ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2018 opens for registrations

 

The 14th Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Digital Broadcasting Symposium (DBS), to be held from March 5 to 8, 2018, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the is inviting registrations.

The DBS is an annual symposium staged by the ABU to support its members and other radio and television broadcasters and the media industry.

It comprises of international conference sessions, panel discussions, focused workshops, masterclasses presented by well-known experts across the globe and an industry exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and services from around the world.

They will address issues related to content development, distribution, technology implementation, the changing media business and future prospects for the media industry in the region and around the world.

The four-day event will provide a one-stop showcase for the newest technologies and solutions currently available in the market and a platform to share expertise and experiences, network with like-minded colleagues, showcase and embrace advancing technologies and today’s content ideas and approach.

The theme for this year’s symposium is ‘Innovating Digital Connections’, which aims to address technologies and techniques essential to develop appropriate and engaging content required to target the changing behaviour and demand of audiences.

The theme will showcase how the integration of media and communication technologies are helping to bring further innovation, improve efficiency, increase reach, creating new revenue streams and drive development of creative content bringing more choice for the audience and benefits to the industry as a whole.

The three-day conference will address the multiplatform delivery of radio and TV in the future, software defined platforms, networks and services, the transformation in the broadcasting field, immersive audio and television experiences, the emergence of OTT as a pay and FTA service and on how should the broadcasters embrace the ‘digital-first’ mind-set of younger audiences among others.
