The Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has announced its list of winners for the ABU Prizes 2017.

The winners were announced at ABU Prizes Award Ceremony on November 3 in Chengdu, China, during ABU General Assembly 2017.

Introduced with the inception of ABU in 1964, the ABU Prizes is an annual competition that has garnered interest from both ABU and non-ABU Members year after year.

The ABU Prizes aim to promote excellence in Radio and TV production in order to raise educational and cultural standards and to strengthen international understanding among the people of the ABU member countries and regions.

ABU Prizes 2017 received more than 260 entries for radio and TV categories, and 50 pre-selection juries spent nearly two months for the pre-selection.

China National Radio led the winners with two awards, one in the Innovative Program category with its entry titled ‘Marquis of Haihun’ and another award in the newly introduced ABU Perspective Awards category for ‘Rooted’.

Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation won in the Drama category, Japan’s NHK won the best Documentary and Radio Srabela of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication won in the News Reporting category.

Malaysia’s iM4U FM won the Community Service Announcement(CSA) category while China Radio International won the Interactive Programme category.
