Indian entries lead Asian radio finalists at New York Festivals

 

The New York Festivals (NYF) International Radio Program Awards has announced its 2018 Finalists.

Entries were judged by the 2017 Grand Jury on production values, organization, presentation of information, creativity and use of the medium.

All entries achieving Finalist status proceed to the medal round.

45 entries from radio networks in India achieved the finalist status – highest among entries from Asia.

Eight of these were from Radio City, eight from Fever, seven from Radio Mirchi, five from South Asia FM, four from Radio – Delhi, three each from from MY FM and Club FM, two each from and Radio Mango and Digital Radio and one each from Ishq FM, KAL Radio and Radio One.

94.3 Radio One India has been nominated for its segment ‘Sydney To Ganges’ which chronicled the touching story and journey of cricketer Steve Waugh bringing the ashes of his Australian friend Brian Rudd also known as 'ShoeShine Brian’ whose last wishes were that his ashes be immersed in the Ganga river at Varanasi. 

Hong Kong had nine finalists, all from Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK).

United Arab Emirates had five finalists, all from Club FM 99.6

South Korea had four finalists – three from Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) and one from Busan English Broadcasting Foundation.

Iran, Oman, Philippines and Taiwan had one finalist each.

The winners will be honoured on June 18 at the awards ceremony in New York City.
