KBS modernises master control room

As part of its ongoing modernization, the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) has installed Lawo equipment in its master control room.

Germany-based Lawo designs and manufactures pioneering audio and video technology for TV and radio broadcast.

The new server-based infrastructure at KBS will establish a state-of-the-art core radio broadcast facility with user-friendly, efficient operation and sophisticated monitoring and alarm management.

KBS has installed main and backup Nova17 routers; with two VisTool systems and two KSC control panels, providing full redundancy for each control room for its seven stations.

According to KBS, an additional benefit is that certain functions no longer need to be accessed via external devices, but are integrated within the Lawo equipment.

The radio engineering team is particularly impressed by the customization feature of the VisTool user interface.

The system has been introduced on-air in phases since January.
