New initiatives launched by Media Prima Radio

Malaysia’s Media Prima Radio Networks (MPRN) has launched three new initiatives aimed to strengthen its position and realise new revenue opportunities

The group runs Malay language stations Hot FM and Kool FM, along with English language station Fly FM and Chinese station One FM.

It is launching a new podcast hub branded as Ais Kacang, which will offer listeners original programming content with 30 different every week in Malay, English and Chinese.

Ais Kacang will available from April 1 at  www.aiskacang.com.my, on mobile application and on iTunes.

MPRN is also looking to generate additional revenue by offering e-commerce merchants a chance to advertise and promote their platforms through the official website of Fly FM, Hot FM, One FM and Kool FM.

Visitors to the site can click on the “offer window” and they will be directed to the official website of the business partners.

Fly FM, Hot FM, One FM and Kool FM will also have their own icons reflecting the character of the station as well as their target audience.

MPRN hopes to develop the icons into animated content and eventually venture in to virtual gaming.

Chief executive officer, Media Prima Radio Networks, Seelan Paul told Marketing Interactive: “All three of these new products and initiatives is to showcase the continuation of MPRN to compete and remain relevant in the rapid changing media landscape. As an example, the Ais Kacang podcast aim to capitalise on the popularity of podcasts globally and adapt it for Malaysian consumers. It will indeed complement our radio stations by providing a new platform for our audience. MPRN also harness the power of our digital platforms that has almost 7.7 million followers. Through this platform, we can provide our clients with another viable alternative and wider reach to advertise and promote their products and services aimed towards the digital community.”
