Red FM helps Nepal quake victims

India’s 93.5 Red FM and non-profit organization SEEDS have joined hands for an initiative called ‘Sau Ho Ya Hazaar Nepal Ko Do Apni Ek Din Ki Pagaar’ (One Hundred or One Thousand, Donate One Day’s Salary to Nepal) to help the earthquake victims in the country.

Nepal was struck by a devastating earthquake on April 26, leaving more than 7000 people dead and causing large scale destruction.

The station’s RJs have pledged to donate one day’s salary to the Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund and are also motivating their listeners to do the same on their shows.

The station’s Delhi breakfast show host RJ Raunac visited Nepal to witness the ground situation and also co-hosted the morning show on local station Radio Kantipur with its RJ Ramon.

The show was broadcast in Delhi and Nepal simultaneously on Wednesday.

The station’s partner in the initiative, SEEDS India is primarily engaged in shelter reconstruction and adopts locally based approaches to reduce the impact of future disasters on communities at risk.

Online donations can be routed through www.bitgiving.com.

Commenting on RED FM’s effort to support Nepal, Nisha Narayanan, COO, RED FM said: “We hope and pray that our support helps the earthquake victims to come back to normalcy soon. It is our duty to reach out to those who have lost their loved ones, homes and property.”
