Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has launched a mobile application to enable local communities to tune in and listen to any Sabah RTM radio stations.

The app, which is available for free on Google Play, was launched last week by Sabah Broadcasting Director Ali Ngasio in Kota Kinabalu.

RTM already has a mobile app, which is more comprehensive, but RTM Sabah app caters specifically for local Sabahan contents, said Deputy Broadcasting Director Malinaziah Datu Mohd Julaspi.

It would also expand the reach of Sabah RTM radio and provide a new platform for the state government to deliver information on policies to the people of Sabah.

With the app, the public could now enjoy listening to Sabah RTM radio stations such as Sabah FM, Sabah VFM, Sandakan FM, Keningau FM, Tawau FM and Suara Malaysia.

According to RTM Sabah Information Technology Unit Coordinator, Lin Wunfu Silas, the app took three weeks to develop, and was built with the help of interns from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas). Their bggest challenges were to link all the radio stations together and to build the menu for the app.
