The Global Chinese Golden Chart (GCGC) Awards featuring 10 groups of Mandarin Pop Singers from Singapore, Malaysia, China and Taiwan, was held last week in Singapore.

The event was hosted by UFM100.3 and its alliance stations Taiwan's Hit FM, Malaysia's MY, Canada's Fairchild Radio, and China's Qingting FM.  

Guests at the event included Kenn C, Eric Ng, Li Si Song, Billy Koh, Xiao Han, Lee Huay Leng and Anthony Tan.

Local band Neko Highway opened the music showcase at 8pm with their popular hit《阿五》, which also happens to be UFM100.3's station jingle.

The presenters of the night were UFM100.3 DJs Xiaozhu, Andrew, Xinying, Weilong, Kemin, and Chengyao.

The first award winner of the night was Cyndi Wang, who presented her 2018 single《大眠》, along with her older works《月光》and《当你》

Singer-songwriters Bai An and Xiao Bing Chih each snagged Best Female Composer and Best Male Composer with their popular hits《让我逃离平庸的生活》and《爱过你有多久就有多痛》respectively.

Billy Koh presented the Best Lyricist Award to Xiao Han for 《伟大的渺小》and the Best Composer Award went to Chen Chien Chi for 《我们》. The audience was pleasantly surprised when JJ Lin congratulated Xiao Han through a video to thank her for writing the lyrics of his song 《伟大的渺小》, which is not only the number one song on UFM100.3's U1000 chart, but also made it to GCGC's Top 20 hits of 2018. After receiving her award, Xiao Han said that this song is dedicated to all the everyday heroes in life.

Bii sang his latest song《Better Fly》followed by 《聊伤》, which won Canada's Fairchild Radio station's Favourite Song Award. Xiao Han and Tanya, who composed this song, were also present. Xiao Han presented the award to Bii and wished him success for this latest album 《Be Better》.

Karen Mok, who celebrates her 25th year in showbiz this year, made a stunning appearance in a sparkling sequin dress. Hosts Xiaozhu, Andrew and Wei Long “challenged” the audience to sing along to the chorus of Mok's hit 《慢慢喜欢你》, one of GCGC's Top 20 songs of 2018, while welcoming her on stage. Mok was pleased with the audience's enthusiasm, and said that she was looking forward to her concert tour happening here next month.

Li Si Song presented the Best Newcomer Awards to Xiao Bing Chih (Gold), Mao Bu Yi (Silver) and to Neko Highway (Bronze). Lim Wen Suen clinched UFM100.3's Recommended Artiste of the Year, while Boon Hui Lu bagged the award for Media's Recommended Female Songwriter of the year. Boon sang her own composition《爱情十万个为什么》, while Neko Highway and Lim Wen Suen captured the audiences' hearts with 《前面转个弯》and《这世界终会记得我的名字》respectively.

Don Chu, who clinched 年度突破艺人奖 Breakthrough Artiste of the Year and Media's Recommended Male Singer performed a medley of iconic songs by the Best Male Artistes winners of the GCGC over the past decade. Chu gave a solid live performance as he belted hits from Jason Zhang, Joker Xue, Li Ronghao, Yoga Lin and JJ Lin.

Singapore Press Holding's Deputy CEO Anthony Tan, presented the awards to Tanya Chua, who bagged Best Producer, Best Female Artiste, and for her song 《遗书》, which made it to the GCGC's top 20 songs of 2018. Chua delivered the highlight performance of the night with her current hits《我要给世界最悠长的湿吻》and《半途》，and brought the showcase to a wonderful ending with her classic crowd favourite

《Beautiful Love》.
