Asia Media Summit discusses 'a dangerous time in media'

The 15th annual Asia Media Summit has opened in New Delhi.

The ancient city of Delhi has a history of over 2000 years and is full of stories, making it the perfect setting for the 2018 conference, with its theme of storytelling. Many speakers mentioned this theme in their opening remarks.

The conference has 228 foreign delegates from 39 countries attending.

In a session at the Asia Media Summit in China, Li Bin (pictured) from Chinese international broadcaster CGTN gave an example of the constant threat of fake news to international stability.

“A few weeks ago, after the change of government in South Korea, we heard about a potential coup being planned by the previous Prime Minister. This was being spread via some news sites and social media.

“Of course we thought this is a big story if it is true, we should cover it.

The 2017 Asia Media Summit was opened this morning by the Vice Premier Madam Liu Yandong (pictured), in Qingdao China.

A packed audience of delegates heard Ms Liu outline China’s achievements and its commitment to Asia and the rest of the world.

The summit is organised by the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development.

AIBD Director Chang Jin welcomed delegates from across Asia and the Pacific to this year’s top level summit, including communications ministers from various countries.

'A revolution in broadcasting...' Smartphone course in KL

A group 16 broadcasters from around the South East Asian region this week were in Kuala Lumpur for a three day Smartphone workshop, run by the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and the Tun Abdul Razak Communications and Information Training Centre (IPPTAR).

Participants learnt how to shoot video, frame shots and compose pictures, choose good lighting, and use their phone apps to best advantage. They also learnt about social media usage and how to file smartphone reports to many social media platforms.

“I now know how to use smartphones in my work,” said a participant from Voice of Vietnam, at the end of this week’s Shooting Video with Smartphones course in Kuala Lumpur.

Workshop participants from seven Asian countries learnt about the new tools of reporting and gained skills for shooting video with smart phones in the course, hosted y IABD and IPPTAR.

The workshop aimed to impart participants with skills in shooting, editing and filing video using smart phone and tablet technology, plus appropriate native and third party apps.

Asian Radio Day in Seoul

Radiodays Europe is organizing an Asian-Pacific Radioday Workshop in Seoul, Korea, on May 23, in conjunction with the annual Asia Media Summit.

The theme for the day is ‘Create engaging radio content’.

 This is the third time Radiodays Europe is organizing a full Radio Day in Asia with its partner AIBD (Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development).

The previous ones were held in Indonesia and Malaysia.
