Car industry has strongly supported DRM introduction in India #ABUdbs2019

Ruxandra Obreja, the Chair of the DRM Consortium, talked about the philosophy of digital radio switchover as part of a series of presentations at DBS2019.

“Don’t focus on the analog switch off date, rather focus on the digital radio launch date,” she advised.

When thinking about switching over from analog to digital radio there are three ways you can do it, according to Obreja:

During the DRM session at this week's Digital Broadcasting Symposium, DRM Chair Ruxandra Obreja explained that Digital Radio Mondiale can use existing transmission infrastructure and can broadcast on all broadcast bands, Shortwave, AM and FM.

New codecs that deliver better sound, hybrid slide show innovations, and more countries broadcasting in DRM were some of the latest developments presented by the Digital Radio Mondiale group at last week’s Digital Broadcasting Symposium in Kuala Lumpur.

Lindsay Cornell explained the latest development in hybrid radio, which now enables RDS, slide shows and other program service information to be compatible across different standards. This will bring benefits for both receiver manufacturers and audiences.
