Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan is going to be an RJ on India’s 93.5 Red FM on Thursday to promote his upcoming film ‘Shamitabh’.

Bachchan will host ‘All India Shamitabh Radio’ on the station all day long, making calls to listeners and on their behalf to deliver their messages.

The station will also give away ‘Shamitabh’ movie tickets and autographed merchandise during the show.

Famous for his deep baritone voice, Bachchan once auditioned to become a radio presenter in his younger days, but was rejected by All India Radio.

Bollywood star launches US radio station

Mera Sangeet, a new Bollywood radio station was launched in the US by former Indian beauty queen and actress Pooja Batra, reports India Today.

The station - Mera Sangeet - aims to cater to the Indian diaspora in the US and Canada with its launch.

Batra, who is the CEO of Glow Bell Inc., will take care of the station’s operations and also host a show.

She has also roped in another Indian actor Deepti Bhatnagar, international photographer Ash Gupta and writer-director Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla to be celebrity radio jockeys for the station.

Hiru Film Awards: Bollywood stars turn out

Sri Lanka’s Hiru FM held its Golden Film Awards at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo on Saturday.

Commercial films screened in 2012 and 2013 and 100 short films produced during the same period were competing for honours.

Many local and Bollywood stars including Vivek Oberoi, Bipasha Basu, Neha Dupia, Anil Kapoor and Sunil Shetty attended the event.

Famous Bollywood vocalist Alka Yagnik also performed some of her biggest hits for the audience.

Red FM makes musician’s Bollywood dream come true

The Mumbai station of India’s 93.5 Red FM recently fulfilled the wish of a street musician to be a part of Bollywood.

Kumarjeet Ghosh plays mouth organ on the city streets for alms and also works as a watchman to make ends meet.

He appeared on the station’s evening show ‘Mumbai Local’ and expressed his dream to work for a Bollywood film to RJ Rishi Kapoor.

Kapoor asked his listeners if there were any music directors among them who could help Ghosh realize his dream.

Bhosle's birthday surprise from BIG FM

India’s veteran Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle was in for a surprise when she visited the Mumbai office of 92.7 BIG GM on the occasion of Ganeshotsav.

Ganeshotsav is a 10-day hindu festival honouring the deity Ganesha and is celebrated with much fervour in the city of Mumbai.

Bhosle, who is famous for singing some of the most popular hindi movie hits of all time, was given a surprise birthday party by the station staff.

They presented her with a birthday cake and celebrated it on-air as well, as a delighted Bhonsle sang and danced with them.

BIG FM hires National Entertainment Editor

India’s 92.7 BIG FM announced the appointment of veteran film journalist, critic, author and historian Bhawana Somaaya as its Entertainment Editor this week.

Somaaya has been associated with the station since 2009, when she first worked as a film expert, sharing Bollywood reviews and trivia.

She began her career as a reporter with Cinema Journal, an entertainment supplement of Free Press Journal in 1970s and soon became a renowned film critic.
