DRM Highlights 'Smart Radio For All' at IBC 2019

Under the overarching theme "DRM – Smart Radio For All" the DRM Consortium has planned for two interactive sessions at this year’s IBC at Amsterdam to look at the practical implementation of DRM in various parts of the world. The focus of the sessions will be also on receivers and exciting receiver solutions.

DRM at Association of Radio Operators for India’s AGM

Association of Radio Operators for India (AROI) is the official association of the private commercial radio stations in India made up of 28 commercial radio stations. At present, these commercial radio stations are broadcasting in analogue FM and it is understood that they cover about 40% population of the country. The DRM Consortium has just joined AROI as a full member.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association was held in New Delhi last week under the chairmanship of Anuradha Prasad, President, AROI.

DRM seminar at Broadcast Asia in Singapore

The Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium will participate in an extensive seminar on Digital Radio Implementation and Transition Strategy scheduled during Broadcast Asia, on June 18. 

The half-day event aims to offer an understanding of DRM technology (and other standards), to examine the best strategies for a smooth transition to DRM while drawing on practical examples and the experience accumulated in Asia-Pacific and other parts of the world.

DRM Annual General Assembly highlights 1.5 million receivers in Indian cars

Under the banner ‘Digital Radio Mondiale Drives Forward’, the 2019 General Assembly of the DRM Consortium took place on March 26 and 27 at the Spanish island of Mallorca, with participation from members and associate members from India, Indonesia, USA, Brazil, Romania, Germany, UK, Hungary, South Africa, Switzerland and Denmark.

DRM launches fifth Enterprise Award

The Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Consortium is launching its fifth DRM Enterprise Award to be presented to an individual or an organisation that has promoted Digital Radio Mondiale successfully, has convincingly explained how DRM can be applied innovatively and can be actively introduced.

Ruxandra Obreja, the Chair of the DRM Consortium, talked about the philosophy of digital radio switchover as part of a series of presentations at DBS2019.

“Don’t focus on the analog switch off date, rather focus on the digital radio launch date,” she advised.

When thinking about switching over from analog to digital radio there are three ways you can do it, according to Obreja:

China becomes world’s largest DRM shortwave broadcaster
