Mumbai Dabbawalas celebrate NY with Red RJ

Dabbawalas – the people who deliver home-made lunchboxes to thousands of office goers in Mumbai everyday – were recently honoured by 93.5 Red FM.

As a part of the initiative ‘Mumbai Ke Asli Heroes’ (Real Heroes of Mumbai), Red FM invited the Dabbawalas to welcome the New Year with RJ Rishi Kapoor at their studio.

With a near 100 percent success rate, the Dabbawalas’ efficiency in handling thousands of tiffins across the city and their minimal dependence on technology is renowned worldwide.

Raghunath D. Medge, Founder and Executive President of the Mumbai Dabbawala Association said: “Delivering lunch boxes is our forte, but 93.5 Red FM has just delivered smiles on the faces of the entire Dabbawala community! We are delighted to have been chosen as ‘Mumbai Ke Asli Heroes’ – it encourages us to work better.”

The Dabbawalas have also been bestowed with ‘The World Record for Best Time Management’ by Guinness World Records.
