Radio City leads in Mumbai and Bangalore

According to the RAM ratings in India for week 51, Radio City led in Mumbai and Bangalore while Fever FM and Radio Mirchi held the top spot in Delhi and Kolkata respectively, reports Exchange4media.

In Mumbai, Radio City led with 19 percent market share closely followed by Big FM with 18.3 percent.

Red FM had a 11.1 percent share and Oye FM managed just 3.2 percent.

In Delhi, Fever 104 FM continued to lead with 18.7 percent share with Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM at the second place with 16.7 per cent.

Mirchi campaign to promote Kannada in Bengaluru

India’s 33-station network, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM has launched a campaign to promote Kannada language on its Bengaluru station, according to Afaqs.

Bengaluru is the capital of the southern state of Karnataka and Kannada is its official language.

The campaign, called ‘Kool Kannada Trivia’ will run on the station’s breakfast show ‘Hi Bengaluru’ on weekdays from 7 am to 11 am.

It is hosted by RJ Smitha who is known for combining the language with modern dialect.

Radio Mirchi's top 20 songs of year were revealed in this year's Vodafone Music Mirchi Top 20 tv show, on Colors last weekend.

The show will be hosted by comedians Manish Paul and Bharti Singh, who played the role of investigative journalists trying to figure out top 20 songs of the year.

Mirchi Dubai wins big at Masala! Awards

Radio Mirchi has won Best Radio Station for the third consecutive year at the fifth edition of Dubai’s Masala! Awards on November 28.

The awards, instituted in 2008 by UAE publication Masala! to recognise the achievements and contributions of the Asian community in the country, were held at Dubai’s Souk Madinat Jumeirah.

Radio Mirchi broadcasts on 88.8 FM in Dubai and is operated by Abu Dhabi Media.

It was nominated along with other Bollywood stations City 1016, 105.4 FM Radio Spice, Josh 97.8 FM and Suno 1024.

MY FM revenue outperforms peers - company

India’s DB Corp owned 94.3 MY FM reported the highest revenue growth among all listed radio stations in its Q2 FY14-15 results, the company says.

Revenue for the 17-station network grew by 33 percent compared to Q2 FY13 -14.

With earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) showing 158 percent growth, the company claims it leads the competition by a huge margin.

It was followed by Fever 104 FM with an EBIT of 44 percent, Radio Mirchi with 36 percent and Radio One with 18 percent in during the same period.

Media planners pick No1 Indian radio brand

India’s Radio Mirchi has been rated the top radio brand amongst Media Planners in the latest Pitch Media BrandOmeter research. reports that Mirchi, which is owned by Entertainment Network India Limited, came ahead of another long-time private radio player - Radio City.

Red FM, BIG FM and Fever 104 made up the rest of the top five in radio, respectively.

The Media Brandometer from the advertising publication Pitch is billed as the most qualitative analysis of media brands in the country.

India Budget: No mention of radio deregulation

The new Indian government presented its first budget last week but there was no direct mention of the radio industry, ahead of the roll-out of Phase III of private FM licensing.

Industry leaders had expected the new leadership to formerly accept the recommendations of the media regulator The Telecom & Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for Phase III, which included a proposed increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the private radio sector.

Stations remind listeners about Environment Day

June 5 was World Environment Day and stations across Asia came up with innovative ways to make their listeners more environment-conscious.

In Singapore, the logos of MediaCorp stations sported a green hue for 24 hours and the broadcaster brought back the popular Saving Gaia campaign, putting the spotlight on pressing environmental issues.

The group’s radio stations including Malay language Ria 89.7FM and Warna 94.2FM aired green tips and facts.

English language Class 95FM also did a series on fun recycling ideas shown through YouTube.

Prashant Panday promoted at Radio Mirchi

Prashant Panday, Radio Mirchi's Executive Director and CEO, has been promoted to the role of Managing Director and CEO.

The company has described Panday as one of the most illustrious names in Indian radio and praised him for bringing the Radio Mirchi brand to both national and international prominence.

An Engineering graduate, Panday joined Mirchi's owner Entertainment Network India Limited (ENIL) in August 2000 having previously worked in advertising, banking, FMCG and other media.
