Pearl Anniversary with over HK$15 million raised for 14 NGOs.

The theme for this year is “Changing Lives for Good”. The fundraising campaign, held over the last two months, demonstrated the notable concern and support of the public towards those in need.

RTHK’s Dennis Wu to host lecture series on Russian music

Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Radio 4’s producer and presenter Dennis Wu is set to host ‘Journeys through Music Lecture Series: Into Russia’.

In the latest instalment of a lecture series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Wu will introduce Russia's unique music culture, review familiar works and feature eight Russian composers.

RTHK invites ‘Young Music Makers’

Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) is inviting entries to Young Music Makers (YMM) 2015 - a project that aims to help develop budding musical talent.

Up to 16 candidates or ensemble groups will be selected through an audition judged by a panel of adjudicators which includes the Head of RTHK Radio 4, Jimmy Shiu.

Successful candidates will be invited to record one programme on RTHK Radio 4 and one on RTHK ETV for broadcast.

Performance clips will also be uploaded onto RTHK’s website and other social media.

RTHK’s CNY celebration on Radio 4

Hong Kong’s public broadcaster Radio television Hong Kong (RTHK) Radio 4  celebrated the Chinese New Year (CNY) with a gathering at its broadcasting house.

CNY fell on February 19 and marked the beginning of the year of the goat.

RTHK’s celebrations brought together hundreds of its employees and representatives from other HK media organisations to deliver holiday greetings to the public.

Radio 4 has also commissioned a piece titled ‘Spring Rhapsody’ from local composer Ng Cheuk-yin to mark the occasion.

RTHK Radio 3's Pinoy Life wins prestigious award

Pinoy Life, a programme on Radio Television Hong Kong’s (RTHK) Radio 3, recently won an award at the 2014 Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards.

In its fourth year, the MAM awards recognize the media’s role in raising public awareness on issues related to Filipino migration.

Pinoy Life was given the Best Radio Award (Regular) at the award ceremony held on International Migrants Day in December at Quezon City in Philippines.

The show is hosted by musician Aileen Alonzo and freelance journalist Jun Concepcion.

RTHK announces winners of Top Story contest

RTHK Radio 3 recently announced the winners of its ‘Hong Kong’s Top Story’ competition held in association with South China Morning Post (SCMP).

Eight contestants were honoured in the Junior and Senior categories in a ceremony held at the Hong Kong Central Library in December.

In the Junior Category for 12 to 17 year-olds, Jessica Chan won the first prize for her story ‘172’ while the second prize went to Catherine Wang and Rachel Ho was the third prize winner.

Kimberly Ng was the creative prize winner for her entry 'Atypical Reincarnation'.
