Speakers announced for WorldDAB and ASBU technical webinar series

 

WorldDAB and the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) have announced final speaker lineup for their technical webinar series from September 15 to 17.

The webinar is aimed at broadcasters and technical experts in the radio industry who are implementing or planning the rollout of DAB+ digital radio. It will be feature leading DAB+ experts from around the globe. Participant questions are encouraged throughout the session and will be answered either during or immediately after each session.

The speakers include:

Kathryn Sabel Brown, S-Comm Technologies

Kath works closely with retailers, manufacturers, the automotive industry and mobile phone manufacturers to introduce DAB+ into phones and cars.  Kath is on the Steering Board of RadioDNS and works closely with the project office at WorldDAB. Kath has an Economics degree, a business and strategic focus and has worked in newspapers and radio for most of her career.

Arne Borsum, Product Manager, IZT

Arne Borsum is a technical expert in the field of audio and broadcast technologies. He graduated from the Ilmenau Technical University in 2004, holding a degree in Media Technology. He worked for Fraunhofer IIS for more than 10 years as a research engineer, focussing on software development, applications engineering, standardization and finally as Business Development Manager for TV applications. Since 2015, Arne Borsum works for IZT, as  =responsible product manager for DAB head-end equipment and receiver testing solutions.

Lindsay Cornell, Principal Systems Architect at BBC Design + Engineering and WorldDAB Technical Committee Chairman

Lindsay has worked for the BBC for more than 20 years, in a variety of engineering, editorial and leadership roles spanning radio, TV, and spectrum regulation. He has considerable experience of leading collaborative projects through his roles as Chairman of CEPT FM PT51, dealing with spectrum issues for programme-making, and as Chairman of the WorldDAB and DRM Technical Committees, managing the stability and development of the respective standards. 

Patrick Hannon, VP Corporate Development, Frontier Smart Technologies & President, WorldDAB

Patrick Hannon is Vice President Corporate Development at Frontier Smart Technologies, the leading provider of technology solutions for consumer DAB radios. He was elected President of WorldDAB in November 2013. His role is to work with policymakers, regulators and industry players (including public and private broadcasters, network operators, device manufacturers, retailers and automotive manufacturers) to ensure that digital radio is successfully rolled out in as many territories as possible. Before joining Frontier, Patrick was a strategy consultant focused on broadcast and digital media. Previously, he held senior strategy and commercial roles at the BBC and BBC Worldwide.

Jérôme Hirigoyen Head of radio business development and international broadcasting, TDF CEO of Rmux, multiplex operator

Jérôme Hirigoyen works for TDF, the main transmission network operator in France. After graduating in electronics he and worked 27 years in several audiovisual departments at TDF (research, marketing/sales/business, operations). Since 2007, he has headed the digital radio project at TDF. Since 2007 Jerome has been dealing with the French public radio broadcaster, radio syndicates, the regulation authority, and manufacturers to promote DAB.

Honey Habibollahzadeh, Account Manager MENA, ATBB

Bernie O’Neill, Project Director, WorldDAB

Bernie joined WorldDAB in 2011 and has a strong background in international industry forum management.  She leads the WorldDAB Project team to deliver information and advice on all aspects of deploying DAB digital radio.  Working with WorldDAB’s member organisations, regional broadcast associations and industry partners, the WorldDAB team collect and share best practice on all aspects of DAB digital radio, covering regulation and licensing, technology trials, network buildout, automotive aspects of digital radio, marketing, and promoting DAB to the listener. Advice and information is delivered through factsheets and case studies, tailored briefings, conferences, workshops and seminars  – both physical and virtual).  Bernie has a degree in international business and management. 

Prem Rajalingham, Managing Director, Frontier Smart Technologies

Prem joined Frontier in 2004 and has over 20 years’ experience in the semiconductor and consumer electronics industry. With an established strong network with key consumer electronics brands and manufacturers around the world, Prem is responsible for Frontier’s global sales, applications and customer support teams. Through his career, Prem has held various positions in Europe and Asia in silicon development, applications, product management, marketing and sales. Prem has a first class honors degree in Electronics Engineering, and a Masters in System Level Integration from the University of Edinburgh.

Rich Redmond, President, GatesAir International

Rich Redmond serves as President, GatesAir International, and is responsible for go-to-market, product, and M&A strategies for the APAC, EMEA and CALA markets.  Most recently he served as Chief Product Officer for GatesAir, responsible for marketing, product line management and R&D among other tasks.  

Redmond has spent his professional career applying advanced technologies to solve market problems and deliver business results. He spent many years in senior leadership roles at Harris Broadcast and Harris Corporation’s Broadcast Communications Division, responsible for new products, strategy and marketing efforts across radio and television transmission businesses.

Prior to joining Harris Corporation, he held national sales management responsibilities for Northeast Broadcast Labs and spent time on the broadcast operations side as a general manager, chief engineer and consultant.

Dr. Les Sabel, S-Comm Technologies, and WorldDAB Technical Committee

Les has over 30 years of experience in communications systems, including broadcast digital radio (DAB/DAB+/DMB and DRM), mobile communications , wireless broadband and satellite communications. Les founded S-Comm Technologies Pty. Ltd. in 2008 to work with the radio industry on DAB+ digital radio. S-Comm has provided services to many Australian and international companies and currently provides on-going independent engineering consultancy to Commercial Radio Australia, WorldDMB, the ITU and various commercial radio networks and regulators in Australia and South East Asia. His expertise covers the development of state-of-the-art communications infrastructure and receiver equipment, business development, product and project management. 

Dr. Adnan Salhab, Head of Technical Training Department, Arab States Broadcasting Union

Adnan Salhab is the head of technical training department at the Arab State Broadcasting Union (ASBU) academy in Tunis, Tunisia. As part of his role, he organises, manages and runs a wide range of technical training courses and projects related to radio and television, as well as participating in symposiums, workshops, working groups and conferences on behalf of ASBU. Salhab holds a diploma in radio engineering and a PhD in telecommunication engineering.

Hermann Zensen, Sales Manager, Digidia

Born in Germany in 1967, Hermann Zensen has been living in France for over 20 years. He holds a Master's degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering at RWTH Aachen in Germany and a Master's degree at Essec Business School in France. Hermann joined DIGIDIA in 2008 as Sales Manager. His previous experience includes sales, service management, process engineering and purchasing for international companies such as Vodafone, SAGEM and Mitsubishi Electric.
