THR Raaga host wins ‘The Best Dre1m Fund Initiative Award’

 

Astro group Malaysia’s Tamil radio station THR Raaga’s announcer Jayaram, better known as Raam,was recently awarded the ‘Best Dre1m Fund Initiative 2015 Award’.

The award, for the program ‘Kesedaran Kepentingan Kemahiran Masa Kini’ (3KMK) was presented by by Prime Minister, YAB Dato’Seri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak.

Raam joined THR Raaga in 2001 and hosts the Hypermalai drive show on weekdays from 3pm to 7pm.

3KMK is a program initiated by Persatuan Pembangunan Manitha –an association built to uplift capabilities and morale of the Malaysian Indian community.

Through “3KMK” program, this year Persatuan Pembangunan MANITHA was given a target to reach Malaysian Indian youths from 108 secondary schools throughout Malaysia.

It focused on the importance of skill training and education for Indian youths aged 15 and above with an underlying goal to curb social illness.

The program was designed to boost their career options in the field of mechatronics, electrical wiring, welding, culinary and hairstyling.

To date, this program has been held in 50 schools, benefiting 830 students.

By May 2016, it would have completed more than 120 schools from 7 states reaching more than 5000 Malaysian Indian students.

Raam, when receiving this award said: “The team tries our best to serve the Indian community, especially the youths. Upon several researches, we found that many of troubled youths were from specific group of students. Thus, we decided to focus on a few key areas such as skills training, volunteerism, social skills, and formulated the “3KMK” program”.

“Our focus is not only on education but also to develop the personality and social skills of the youths. This program provides youths with skills training to help them gain confidence”, he added.
