YES 93.3 awards to hail top Asian songwriter

Singapore Hit Awards (SHA) 2014 organiser Y.E.S. 93.3FM will present the ‘Honorary Award’ to top Asian songwriter Eric Moo.

Since the 80’s Moo has been a pioneer in Xinyao – a genre of songs which are composed and sung by Singaporeans and are about life within the country.

He has released more than 30 albums and won many accolades at prestigious awards shows all over the world.

His song ‘Encounter’ was one of the first locally composed tunes to make it to Y.E.S. 93.3FM Pick of the Pops and break the monopoly of Taiwan artistes.

He was the top winner from Southeast Asia at the inaugural SHA when he won ‘Best Local Artiste’ and ‘Best Song’ awards.

Another of his songs – ‘Too Foolish’ – won the same award again at next year’s SHA and Moo announced that he would stop receiving the ‘Best Local Artiste’ award.

Singapore Hit Awards 2014 will be held on November 7 at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre.
