988’s Chan Fong is looking for an apprentice

Monday 15 April, 2019

Malaysia’s Chinese-language station 988’s presenter Chan Fong is looking for an apprentice.

Fong hosts the breakfast show Morning Up on weekdays and also anchors the long-running evening show City Heartbeat on Fridays.

A veteran radio presenter who has been on air for 28 years, this apprenticeship is his way of helping to nurture the next generation of on-air talent by sharing his knowledge and experience.

His apprentice will also get to co-host Morning Up with him.

The ideal candidate should be articulate, engaging, incisive, have an assertive nature, and up-to-date on current affairs.

Those interested in applying have to be a Malaysian citizen, aged 21 and above. To apply, they have to record a one-minute video in Mandarin or Cantonese of them “hosting” Morning Up and send it to the station by April 20. Shortlisted candidates will undergo another round of testing by Chan himself before he selects his apprentice.
