ABU prizes 2015: Radio finalists announced

 

Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has announced its list of finalists for the ABU prizes 2015.

The ABU prizes aim to promote excellence in radio and TV production in order to raise educational and cultural standards and to strengthen international understanding among the people of the ABU member countries and regions.

Radio New Zealand (RNZ), Hungarian Public Service Media, Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and Radio Russia were nominated in the Drama category.

The Documentary category has BBC, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Soroush Multimedia Corporation (SMC) from Islamic Republic of Iran and Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) competing for a prize.

In the News Reporting category, All India Radio (AIR), RTHK,  Egyptian Radio and Television Union  and China National Radio (CNR) were the finalists.

China National Radio (CNR), China Radio International (CRI), Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) and Korea Educational Broadcasting System (EBS) were nominated in the Interactive Programme category.

In the On Air Personality category, Matt and Alex on triple J Breakfast from Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), IRIB’s Ab o Tab, iM4U Malaysia’s Good Night Show with Dayah and Shah and TraxxFM Malaysia’s Face To Face:Beauty-How Far Will You Go To Look Good were the nominees.

In addition a list of Radio Special Jury Prize Finalists was also announced across different categories.

Radio Pollikontho, Bangladesh and Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) made it to the Drama category.

BBS also got a nod in the Documentary category while The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) was a finalist in the News Reporting category and in the Community Service Announcement category iM4U Malaysia made it to the list.

For Interactive Programmes, Public Service Media (PSM), Maldives was the finalist and TraxxFM, Malaysia, was the finalist for On Air Personality.

Final judging will take place in Kuala Lumpur from September 14 to 16.

All Radio finalists have to send in their audio clips and a picture of the programme by September 12 to . [email protected]
