On-air phones to be replaced by real-time web audio

Comrex takes its tech to India

Comrex, a long-time innovator in broadcast technology, will be displaying its array of products with Technomedia India at BES EXPO 2016.

BES will be held at the Kempinski Ambiance Hotel in Delhi February 4th through 6th where Comrex Engineering Director Tom Hartnett will present a paper on replacing on-air telephone call-ins with real-time web audio.

“Web-based audio codecs, such as Opus, deliver wideband audio without using a lot of data; the audio delivered by these codecs far surpasses telephone quality audio and is simple and cheap to utilise,” said Tom Hartnett of his paper. “Increased use of these web-based platforms is an important growth of broadcast technology.”

On the floor at BES Expo 2016, Comrex will be demonstrating its ACCESS IP audio codec. With an easy-to-use handheld interface, ACCESS broadcasts studio-quality live audio in real time over a variety of IP, wireless, and wired networks.

Using Comrex’s proprietary BRIC technology, ACCESS easily navigates complicated data networks to ensure high quality, low latency, stable audio transmission. With the addition of CrossLock technology, ACCESS can now utilise multiple IP streams at once during a broadcast, ensuring even more stable connections.

Comrex will also be demonstrating LiveShot. LiveShot delivers high-quality, low-latency video

and audio over a range of IP networks. Capable of providing two-way media simultaneously even over challenging connections, LiveShot provides return video, two IFB returns, and director/camera PL. At only three pounds, LiveShot is versatile enough for a range of applications.

In addition to ACCESS and LiveShot, Comrex will be showing STAC VIP, a VoIP based talk management system, and BRIC-Link II, an IP audio codec designed for point-to-point links.

BES EXPO 2016: International Conference & Exhibition on Terrestrial & Satellite Broadcasting is the twenty-second conference organized by the Broadcast Engineering Society (India). Nearly 300 companies from 25 countries displayed their products at BES EXPO 2015, and organizers expect BES EXPO 2016 to be similarly successful.
