RJ Annu Kapoor, host of Indian network 92.7 Big FM’s ‘Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor’ has won the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award.

The Award recognises the contribution of film personalities for their outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian Cinema.

Kapoor, who is also a critically-acclaimed National award-winning actor, began hosting the show three years ago.

It is a musical encyclopedia covering the golden age of Hindi cinema, combining evergreen hits with narrations of behind-the-scene incidents and interesting trivia about movies, from the golden era of Indian cinema.

Sharing his thoughts on receiving the prestigious award, Kapoor said: “We began this memorable journey three years ago, and there has been no looking back since. I dedicate this award to the listeners of 92.7 BIG FM who have showered the show with so much love, respect and adulation.” 

Speaking about the show, on which he has narrated more than 4000 stories, he said: “There is a lot of hard work and research that goes behind the making of ‘Suhaana Safar’. The show gives me the freedom to express myself by not only narrating stories from yesteryears), but also stories that reside in my heart.”
