Big FM celebrates International Yoga Day

India’s Big FM network urged listeners to change their perspective towards their health and fitness on International Yoga Day on June 21.

A 'Yoga Alarm' was scheduled every hour on-air to prompt people to wake up and practice basic yoga poses and stretching exercises. The initiative was taken with the intent to motivate people to inculcate this as a habit in their day-to-day lives to ensure a healthy lifestyle.

This was supported by well-known fitness instructor Simmi Sakhuja's 12 inspirational videos, where she was seen teaching basic yoga poses through Facebook Live.

A company spokesperson said: “As a radio network, we hope to bring a positive change in the mindset of people through this concept.”

Simmi Sakhuja said: “Yoga is a way of life. How about integrating it in our daily lives, especially when we are working on our laptops while being seated all the time? A few short exercises will keep you going every day to feel good, correct posture and keep good mobility in all the joints. Let's change our life the yoga way. It helps us feel good in our body and mind.”
