BIG FM pays tribute to Kargil war martyrs

Indian network BIG FM paid tributes to the martyrs of 1999 Kargil war between India and Pakistan with a broadcast from Indian army’s base camp.

To celebrate Indian troops’ victory in one of the highest  battlegrounds at 18,000 feet, RJs were stationed at the Kargil base camp from July 24 to 26.

They shared stories of the heroism of fallen Indian soldiers with their family members, lived the life of a soldier during their visit and shared their experiences along with the difficulties and hardships that a soldier goes through while performing his duty.

General N C Vij, the DGMO and Chief of Army Staff during the war, went on-air on July 26 and shared his experiences and incidents from the battle right from the first day when it all began till the last day of the war.

 Speaking of the occasion, Ashwin Padmanabhan, Executive Vice President and Business Head, Reliance Broadcast Network Limited said: “To keep memories of these brave young men alive and offer our appreciation and respect to the men who forged ahead to protect the country, we took this opportunity upon ourselves to do something earnest for them.”
