Commercial Radio Malaysia announces its 2017 leadership

Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM), the association of commercial radio operators in Malaysia announced its new leadership line-up at the recent 20th Annual General Meeting on April 13.

Datuk Jake Abdullah, the Chief Executive Officer of Astro Radio, was re-elected for the 2017-18 term.

Datuk Jake joined Astro in 1996 as announcer and Music Executive for before holding his current position as the CEO of Astro Radio since Year 2013.

Erin Hwang Bin Bin (General Manager, Sales, Rimakmur Sdn Bhd) was re-elected the Vice President whilst Cik Anida Mohd Tahrim (Max Air Play Sdn Bhd) and Bala Murali Subramaney (Capital FM Sdn Bhd) were elected as the Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer respectively.

The CRM line-up now comprises 22 commercial radio stations from both Peninsular and East Malaysia. 

“The ability of radio to be agile and nimble will continue to be relevant in a fast-changing media landscape; especially with the advent of technology.  The last few years have seen rapid transformation in communication which had a major impact on media. Radio however, remains relevant as it has had the ability to merge with any other platform effortlessly. Most of the operators in CRM have very strong digital and social media presence, and they understand the value of great content; both video and audio,” said Datuk Jake.
