Frontier’s new smart radio module adds Amazon Music Unlimited

Frontier Smart Technologies, a leading technology provider for digital radio, has introduced the latest version of its new Smart Radio platform, Venice X – now with Amazon Music Unlimited.

Venice X is a feature-rich, cost-optimised solution for manufacturers who want to address the growing demand from consumers for dedicated audio devices which provide access to digital radio, podcasts and online music services – at mass market prices.

By adding Amazon Music Unlimited to its portfolio of services (Spotify is already part of the package), Venice X now gives listeners access to two major online music services. This new version of Venice X also adds Bluetooth Album Art and Podcast Player.

Venice X is a platform which combines DAB+, FM, internet radio and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity in a single turnkey solution. Smart Radios offer consumers access to DAB radio, thousands of Internet radio stations, online music services, such as Spotify, and podcasts from around the world. The combination of broadcast and internet connectivity in a single device creates a dedicated audio product with global appeal.

With its latest software release, Venice X now incorporates Amazon's paid for music service, Amazon Music Unlimited, which offers subscribers ad-free access to 40 million tracks.

Bluetooth album art has been added to give consumers the same experience seen on streaming music services, where album art is shown for the track being played over Bluetooth. This is a new feature and will be first seen in Apple's iOS 13.

In addition, responding to the growing global audience for podcasts, Venice X has also introduced a new Podcast Player which provides access to nearly 20,000 podcasts and listen-again services.

Venice X is a customisable turnkey solution which enables brands and manufacturers to build high quality Smart Radios quickly and cost-effectively. Venice X offers dual-band Wi-Fi for more reliable Wi-Fi connectivity. As a cost-optimised solution, Venice X offers brands the opportunity to develop Smart Radios at truly mass-market prices.

Prem Rajalingham, Chief Commercial Officer, Frontier Smart Technologies, said: Since its introduction earlier this year, Venice X has been extremely well received – with over 50 models now in production or in development – from brands including Hama, TechniSat, Grundig, Philips and Dual. With the addition of Amazon Music Unlimited and Podcast player mode, we are ensuring that Venice X offers end-users a comprehensive audio experience.”

Frontier Smart Technologies will be showcasing the latest version of its Venice X Smart Radio platform at IFA, Berlin between 6th and 11th September.
