iM4U fm marks second anniversary with radio conference and workshop

Malaysian youth station iM4U fm marked its second anniversary with Sekolah Radio 2016 – a radio conference and interactive workshop, in Puchong on September 8.

It aimed to bring together more than 400 participants, mainly students, from different local universities.

Sekolah Radio is an extension of iM4U fm Campus and School Invasion – an on ground tour that has impacted more than 5,000 students since it started in 2015. The main purpose of these initiatives is to expose Malaysia youth to careers in the radio industry.

The one-day event featured prominent personalities from the local and international radio industry.

These included Datuk Dr. Jake Abdullah, President of Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM), Tony Hertz, brand audio specialist from Hertz Radio; Fara Fauzana, one of the most notable female announcers in Malaysia and Faizal Ismail, a veteran male radio announcer and TV Host.

The show kicked off with a short drama by students from UiTM Fakulti Filem Teater dan Animasi (FiTA), which explained the roles of people who work in a radio station.

Participants also got to hear from the first female Malaysia Mix Martial Arts Fighter to compete in One FC, Ann Osman and Malaysian hip-hop singer, Altimeton about how radio touched their lives.

“We have discovered that there’s a growing interest in radio broadcasting particularly in our local universities. Newer breed of campus radio stations have been set up as part of the University’s extra curricular activities, however radio education in Malaysia is still very limited. We want to expose our budding young broadcasters on how radio works in the real world,”says Kartini Ariffin, Director of iM4U fm.

“The past two years have been amazing for iM4U fm. We have grown a lot and there is still a lot to learn for iM4U fm. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our listeners, artistes, record labels and people from the radio industry who have been showing their continuous support,” adds Rudy Malik, Chief Executive Officer of iM4U.

iM4Ufm is the first Malaysian radio station that spearheads youth volunteerism. It currently has close to 60,000 listeners in the Klang Valley.
