International Radio Festival announces its sixth edition

This year’s edition of the International Radio Festival (IRF) will take place from the August 14 to 30 in Zurich with over 40 radio stations and more than 60 key industry professionals from around the world.

IRF represents the world’s largest public on-air festival whilst at the same time offering the music radio industry the only music-radio-content business platform to network, knowledge share, explore audience preferences and exchange formats, offering all those tuned in the rare opportunity to ‘Listen to how the World Sounds’ on one channel over four days.

It will broadcasting from an exclusive radio studio where visitors can watch how radio is produced by some of the world’s leading radio presenters and radio stations – live on-air across Zurich on FM 87.8 MHz & 88.1 MHz, on DAB+ across Switzerland, online around the world and back home on the airwaves of international radio guests.

Speakers at this year’s event include Samantha Moy, BBC 6Music, Mark Ramsey, USA Veteran Media Strategist, Gerrit Schumann, Deezer and Daniel Rérat, Boyz Noise Records.

International Radio stations broadcasting as part of the “On Air” program include: Italian public broadcaster RAI2 & RAI3, Nogoum Radio Egypt, KissFM Melbourne, Rete 3 Switzerland, JIL FM Algeria, InterFM Tokyo, Love Radio Shanghai, IFM Tunesia, BBC Radio ONE and Soho Radio UK, Campus Radio WUML and PRIDE Radio USA, BIG FM India, and featuring illustrious music makers such as Richard Dorfmeister and Mark Jones.

Each station will broadcast a radio show with its own music programme in their local language.

This year will also see the launch of the world’s first photographic collection of International Radio Faces.

IRF & Mixcloud will also celebrate the best online radio stations and shows from around the world with the second edition of the annual online awards.

Entries will be judged for best radio station, music radio show and talk radio show across different genres and territories by a public and industry panel vote.

The panel consists of leading industry judges from KCRW, SXSW, 7digital, NTS, Mixcloud, IRF and more.

The fourth annual ‘Sound of India’ contest the IRF will focus on an Indian FM Radio Show and Radio Jockey who will represent Indian radio. This year’s winner is Siddharth Misra of 92.7 BIG FM Mumbai.
