Lush not closing, announces new line-up

The boss of Singapore’s most eclectic station Lush 99.5FM has dismissed rumours that the station is closing down.

MediaCorp’s Vice President of English Programming Georgina Chang took to the station’s Facebook page to say “many of you have heard the ‘rumours’ that Lush may cease to exist. I’m so happy to tell you that Lush is in NO danger of losing our licence (until it’s up for renewal with the other stations — standard procedure)”.

There was no confirmation of where the gossip had started.  But the station, which just celebrated its ninth birthday on New Years Eve, announced a new line-up which started on Monday.

Joining the station is popular 987FM host Rosslyn Lee, who will be presenting ‘The Evening Lush’.

The 34-year-old will be working without an on air partner for the first time, which according to local media she’s been hoping for for a while.

Actress Daniella Sya, who’s known to Singapore viewers from the English drama Mata Mata, now hosts ‘Lush Mornings’ from 7 to 10am.

Previously Sya, who’s Malaysian, worked for Red FM and Lite FM in KL.

In recent months, Lush 99.5FM has been moving away from chill-out and jazz tracks and more towards indie and electronic music.
