Malaysian Deputy Communications Minister opens #DBS2017

The Deputy Communications Minister for Malaysia Jailani Johari has officially opened the 2017 Digital Broadcasting Symposium in Kuala Lumpur, telling delegates, “this symposium will provide a platform for the exchange of information and new avenues of knowledge and help participants make decisions about the future of the media industry.”

He foreshadowed Radio Television Malaysia’s move to new premises in the near future.

“The RTM future broadcasting complex, a gigantic complex with its new technology and integrated systems, will further develop the future of Malaysia’s media industry,” he said.

Organiser of the Summit, The Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union, has 275 members in 69 countries and is “the largest broadcasting union in the world” according to Secretary general Javad Mottaghi, who introduced the minister.

The ABU is running more than 110 projects per year.  “One of the reasons we can do so much is through the support from the Ministry of Communications and RTM here in Malaysia,” said Motaghi.

After officially opening the Symposium, the Minister toured the Exhibition, meeting exhibitors, including World DAB (pictured above).
