Malaysian singer wins ASEAN+3 song contest in Vietnam

Malaysian singer Rosario Ninih Chamini Bianis won the 2019 ASEAN+3 Song Contest at its grand finale on Sunday night in Vietnam.

Organized by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), the three-day contest attracted 22 professional singers aged 18-35 from the 10 ASEAN member states and four guest singers from China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.

Contestants underwent semi-final and final rounds, with members of the jury coming from the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The second prize was shared by two Vietnamese and Filipino singers, and the third prize went to two Indonesian and Myanmar artists.

VOV President Nguyen The Ky said at the finale: “The biennial contest was hosted by VOV for singers to show their talents and sentiments to their colleagues and the wider public. The grand musical event is also one of Vietnam’s activities to mark the 52nd anniversary of ASEAN.”

Applauding VOV for organizing such regional musical contest, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said: “The government supports activities that strengthen solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and other countries. I believe that the contest will be a success and become a popular venue for young ASEAN singers.”
