MediaCorp jocks test augmented reality game

Class 95 DJs Glenn Ong and Mike Kasem helped Singaporean soccer fans jump into an interactive game with their favourite Manchester United players on Sunday.

In a tie-up with Pepsi, a giant screen was erected at Junction 8 Shopping Mall for what’s known as Augmented Reality (AR) technology.

The interactive game sees the likes of  Robin Van Persie, Shinji Kagawa, David DeGea and Ryan Giggs appear on the big screen.

Fans are given realistic, one to one interaction with the players, complete with football crowd sound effects.

They are then photo’d with their football idols.

Ong and Kasem helped shoppers adapt to their new augmented reality environment.

The big screen is one of two on display in a deal with Pepsico.

The concept was created by MediaCorp OOH, the company’s outdoor advertising arm, which has been exploring how to harness AR in its clients’ campaigns.
