New morning show duo for 987FM Singapore

MediaCorp-owned CHR English station 987FM launches a new morning show on Monday with Sonia Chew (currently 1-4pm weekdays) and part-timer Joakim Gomez.

The pair will host “The Wake Up Call” from 6am to 10am, replacing Rosalyn Lee and Bobby Tonelli.

Lee will begin a new life on indie station Lush 99.5FM after eight years on 987FM.

She moves studios at MediaCorp’s Caldecott Broadcast Centre to host The Evening Lush, weekdays from 5-9pm.

Co-host Tonelli moves to AC English station Class 95 to present the nightly Love Songs show.

Meanwhile another part-timer, Kimberly Wang, will replace Chew on 987FM’s “The Hit List” from 12pm to 4pm.

987FM saw its weekly listenership climb 23,000 to 327,000 in the most recent Nielsen radio diary survey.

In terms of cume, the MediaCorp station was just beaten to the position of number 8 station by competitor Hot FM by 6,000 listeners, according to figures shared with Asia Radio Today.
