Oli FM organises health fair

Singapore’s Tamil station Oli 96.8 FM held a health festival called Sugathara Vizha 2015 on Sunday.

The aim of the fair was to create awareness of common chronic illnesses, promote healthy lifestyle choices amongst the Indian community and to inculcate in them the importance of having regular medical screenings.

The event was organised in collaboration with the Hindu Endowments Board (HEB).

More than 200 medical and health practitioners and 35 doctors volunteered their services for the event.

Over 1,200 attendees participated in the medical screening efforts.

It had over 20 on-site medical screening booths including diabetic foot screening, eye screening, colorectal cancer screening, dental screening, glucose test for diabetics and diabetic screening for non-diabetics.

Attendees were also able to visit various booths where they could book appointments for mammograms, learn more about CPR, elderly care, first aid, pioneer generation package, cancer, diabetes, mind wellness and the effects of smoking.

A special entertainment show was also hosted by Oli DJs Rafi and Vimala where attendees were treated to dance performances by Rameshwara and TGIF and stage performances by veteran singers L. Vijayandran, Suriamurthi, Sountharavaliy, Elamaran, Vijay Anand and Kalaiselvi.

Another highlight of the show was a special health and wellness skit directed by popular veteran ex-Oli DJ and actor, Re Sommasundram.
