Afghanistan’s Pajhwok Afghan News and Sheba Radio/HUB Group have signed an agreement to share services and resources.

“The agreement provides in principle, for the sharing of services and resources between the two prominent and esteemed Afghan organizations,” a joint statement issued by the two companies said.

Launched in September 2016, Sheba Radio produces and broadcasts news, entertainment, educational, cultural, Islamic and informational content in Pashto and Dari. The channel’s primary goal is to exceed international standards of broadcasting excellence whilst promoting impartiality, and by broadcasting varied content within the framework of the national agenda.

Pajhwok Afghan News is Afghanistan’s largest independent news agency. With headquarters in Kabul, eight regional bureaus and a nationwide network of reporters and correspondents, Pajhwok deliver an average daily output of three dozen stories in Pashto, Dari, and English.

With immediate effect, Sheba Radio would have access to Pajhwok’s extensive archive and daily output to complement its own newsgathering resources, thereby delivering the most credible and up-to-the-minute national and international news and information to listeners throughout Afghanistan, on its website and social media platforms.

Pajhwok’s products and services would also be heavily promoted on Sheba Radio and its social media platforms.

The agreement also provides for coordination between the two companies to conduct qualitative and quantitative research to produce and publish a comprehensive media guide of the country’s media landscape.

Commenting on the signing of the agreement, Ghulam Sarwar Zohair, CEO of Sheba Radio said: “We recognize and deeply respect Pajhwok’s achievements and status as an industry leader, and together, we look forward to being a catalyst for the continued growth and development of Afghanistan’s media sector”.

Danish Karokhel, Director and Editor-In-Chief of Pajhwok Afghan News remarked: “Pajhwok Afghan News always worked for strengthening of news media in Afghanistan and took substantial steps to ensure fast and convenient delivery of latest news to its audience, this is one such initiative where Pajhwok will work along Sheba Radio to reach a new set of audience and create a platform that is mutually beneficial for both.”
