Monday 13 January, 2014

A much-loved Breakfast Show host has been killed in a motorcycle crash on the Thai island of Phuket.

Paul Norris, from Scotland, hosted the The Breakfast Show on English station 91.5 Phuket FM Radio and was known by the nickname The Doris.

A station colleague told Asia Radio Today that Norris, 45, was killed in a collision with an airport taxi on the main highway from the airport to the south of the island.

The accident happened at about 2am on Sunday.

Norris had lived in Phuket for 12 years and had become a local celebrity through his club and radio work.

He was also a founding shareholder in the station when it launched in 2008.

The Phuket News reports that Norris was involved in a serious road accident in June last year and had only returned to the island and work in October.

A note of condolence has been posted on the station's website and several tributes have been paid on Facebook.
