Podcasting Masterclass: Crafting The Last Voyage of the Pong Su

ABU members are invited to join a masterclass webinar about the making of The Last Voyage of the Pong Su – an award-winning narrative podcast that goes beyond true crime to humanise the cops and criminals it features.

The ten-part series explores the bizarre story of how a North Korean cargo ship, the Pong Su, offloaded 150 kilos of heroin on a deserted Australian beach in 2003.

Host Richard Baker, a top investigative journalist with The Age newspaper in Melbourne, sets out to discover what happened to the men on board the ship, and tracks those involved in the extraordinary military chase, police investigation and trial. The podcast was made by the same core team that made the award-winning podcasts, Phoebe's Fall and Wrong Skin.

Siobhan McHugh co-produced all three. She is an acclaimed podcast producer, critic, researcher, speaker and teacher who has won six gold and two bronze awards for podcasts at the New York Radio Festival.

In this masterclass, she reveals the moving parts behind a successful podcast collaboration like The Last Voyage of the Pong Su: who does what, how and why.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

The one hour webinar will be held on June 9. To register, click here.
