Radio Asia begins in Myanmar

The Radio Asia Conference begins Thursday 28 May in Yangon with morning workshops, followed by the official opening and keynote sessions in the afternoon.

RadioAsia2015 brings together leading radio media practitioners, communication specialists, policy makers, and academics from across the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

The event comprises workshops followed by a two and a half day conference where leading radio experts will deliver papers and presentations.

The morning workshops cover creativity and talent development.

Unlocking your Creativity:
How to turn your journalistic operations into a hot-house of ideas. This practical workshop will built around “live” brainstorming sessions and a tight process that would generate ideas form the group and turn them into output plans. Facilitators: Neil Curry, Director, Beyond Broadcasting, UK and Mick Slatter, Director, Beyond Broadcasting, UK.

Developing your on and off air Talent
This workshop will focus on the needs of on and off air talent to deliver new and engaging content and how managers can get the best out of their presenters.
Facilitator: Steve Ahern, CEO, International Media & Broadcasting Academy (IMBA) and AsiaRadioToday editor.

 

His Excellency U Ye Htut, Union Minister for the Ministry of Information, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, will open the conference, and keyote speakers in he first session are Simon Spanswick, Chief Executive, Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) and Joan Warner, Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Radio Australia and Vice-Chair World DMB Forum. Warner will talk about Radio’s Hybrid Future.

The final session tomorrow focuses on the Creative Power of Radio:

In the recent past challenges thrown up be other mass-media have been tackled by the radio industry, some of these very successfully. Solutions devised and implemented by broadcasters and other segments of the industry have completely transformed radio. What is the creative power of radio and how does it manifest itself in the media landscape time and over again? It is chaired by Neil Curry,. Speakers include:

The day will conclude with a Gala Dinner.
