Radio City to celebrate Raksha Bandhan festival with legislators

India’s Radio City 91.1 FM is planning to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan in Delhi with local Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs).

Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival where sisters tie a rakhi (sacred thread) on their brother’s wrist, symbolizing their love and prayers for his well-being, and the brother’s lifelong vow to protect her.

Radio City’s RJ Ginnie will celebrate the festival by teaming up with listeners and approaching their MLAs to seek protection.

According to the station, broken roads and uncovered potholes are a big safety hazard in Delhi and numerous pleas made to the MLAs by the locals often go unanswered.

RJ Ginnie will personally accompany listeners to their MLA’s house and tie a rakhi on their wrists.

The MLA has to vow to protect his locals by sprucing up the roads and covering the potholes in his jurisdiction.

Listeners will also get a chance to share their grievances with the MLAs as RJ Ginnie will speak to them on air.

The station will make sure that the politicians stick to their promises by regularly playing their bytes and compelling them to take action.

Around 20 areas across Delhi will be covered and more than 10 MLAs will be interviewed on Rakhsha Bandhan this Saturday.
