Radio City offers trip to hometown of Indian guru

As part of the festive season in India, Radio City is offering listeners the chance to visit the holy shrine of Shirdi, the home of the revered Sai Baba.

The family trip can be won on Radio City Smaran, the spiritual web station dedicated to devotion and wellness.

As of Tuesday, more than 700 entries had been received.

The station is one of six web only channels available on the portal planetradiocity.com.

Shirdi, in the state of Maharastra, is one of the most popular religious tourism destinations India.

Thousands of pilgrims, from across the country and beyond, flock there every year.

Celebrating its first anniversary on air, Radio City Smaran is also heard across 20 cities on Radio City 91.1FM between 5 and 7am.

Although private FM stations mostly concentrate on contemporary Bollywood and other film-based music, devotional music often sees dramatic spikes in audience figures, even at 6 am.
