Radio Foorti celebrates a decade of broadcasting

Popular Bangladesh station Radio Foorti celebrated its 10th birthday on September 22.

One of the first private FM stations in the country, it was initially launched in Dhaka on 88.0 FM with the slogan ‘Don’t stop the Foorti’ in 2006.

It soon expanded to Chittagong in 2007 and Sylhet in 2008.

By 2010, it had reached Khulna, Rajshahi, Barisal, Mymensingh and Cox’s Bazaar, and now has 10 stations in total – making it the largest private FM network in Bangladesh.

In 2011, its official Facebook page crossed 100,000 fans.

The station plays a wide variety of music, ranging from golden classics to latest releases from top artists in Bangladesh and the hottest international tracks.

Its theme for marking a decade of broadcasting was ‘10xfoorti!’, and it had an in-house celebration  at its office where well-known celebrities and artists joined the presenter and listeners in singing, dancing, reminiscing and capturing memories in photo sessions.
