RADIOactive’s Andrew Crothers dies aged 40

Andrew Crothers, the Managing Director of Singapore-based RADIOactive, has died aged 40.

A spokesman for the live streaming company told Asia Radio Today that he passed away on Friday night but gave no further details.   Reports suggest he suffered a heart attack.

Having started his radio and music career in his native Australia, Crothers moved to Singapore to work for MediaCorp as Creative Director for its portfolio of English stations including Class 95 and Lush 99.5.

As well as being an award winning producer, he also became one of the region’s most instantly recognisable voice overs, heard on thousands of radio, tv and movie commercials and promos.

Together with fellow musician and producer Don Richmond, Crothers turned his passion for top-notch audio production into a weekly radio programme.  The Don & Drew Show would regularly see the pair compose original songs while on air.

His former radio partner took to Twitter to pay tribute.

In 2008, Crothers set up RADIOactive to offer live streaming, apps and music streaming platforms including MediaCorp’s MeRadio.

Other clients include Malaysia’s Astro Radio, Star Radio Group, SPH Radio and Indonesia’s Mahaka Media.

Vishnu Devarajan, Director – Digital Content & Platforms at Star Radio Group, posted this message on Crother’s Facebook page.

Other condolences were also posted on Social Media.

Crothers is survived by his wife Nora and nearly 2-year-old son.
