Raining money at new SPH station launch

At this morning's Money FM launch in Singapore it rained money as lions danced in the studios to mark the opening of SPH Radio's new station.

The station's weekday daytime lineup is:

  • The Breakfast Huddle with Elliott Danker & Yasmin Jonkers
  • Midday with Howie Lim
  • Prime Time with Claressa Monteiro
  • The Curve with Desmond Wong and Loretta Lopez

“Anyone who wants to get ahead and stay ahead needs to have a good understanding of how to make and spend their money wisely. We will be talking about how they can make money, invest it, and about all the things they want to spend it on too,” said GM Hong Huat in an earlier report.

A range of high profile business people, personalities and advertisers attended the champagne breakfast launch at the studios, located at the SPH News Centre in Toa Payoh.

The new station joins SPH's Radio's stable of music stations, Kiss 92, One FM, UFM and HaoFM to give the company coverage across the main age demographics in English and Chinese languages, and now extend their reach to middle to high income news and talk radio audiences.

As well as using the resources of Singapore Press Holdings' many news and business journalists to cover Singapore news and markets, programming is also sourced from international partners such as the BBC and Deutsch Welle.

The format was developed by Steve Ahern of AMT Pty Ltd, who consulted to SPH and trained the presenters during the pre-launch phase.

Senior SPH editor Ven Sreenivasan has been assigned to the station as Executive Editor-SPH Radio to ensure that the radio team has good access to all the specialist print journalists who work for the company's newspapers.

The launch activities also reached out to the public on the streets of Singapore with promos and giveaways during the day to alert listeners to the new FM station.
