Red FM gets slum band to play for Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan

India’s 93.5 Red FM recently got a band from one of the world’s largest slums, Dharavi, to meet with and perform for Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

Dharavi Rocks is a band of slum kids, becoming increasingly popular for their junk percussion acts.

All its members are underprivileged children who were born and raised in Dharavi.

This motley group makes music from waste materials collected and brought to the slums.

Red FM’s breakfast presenter Malishka, who has been following their journey recently spoke to them and the leader for the band, Abhijit Jejurikar, requested Malishka to get them to meet Bachchan.

Malishka asked the band to record a message for him and sent him an email with the video clip.

Bachchan’s office replied to confirm within 48 hours and Malishka and the kid rockers met Bachchan at his bungalow on Monday and performed for him.
