Shanghai Media Group (SMG) launched the “Impression of China” project on May 18 to promote original Chinese music to the world.

SMG is a part of Radio and Television Station of Shanghai (RTS), a Shanghai-based government institution – one of China’s largest media and cultural conglomerates.

The concerts will start to be broadcast on SMG’s Classical Music Radio 947 at 6pm every Sunday in June. Over 30 concerts will be presented weekly by the end of the year.

The European Broadcasting Union will broadcast the concerts to audiences all around the world.

A batch of major ensembles in China have taken part in the project, including China National Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and Hangzhou Symphony Orchestra.

Their repertoires include original Chinese music and representative works of celebrated musicians.
