SPH Radio introduces Chinese station 96.3 Hao FM and English station Money FM 89.3

Singapore’s SPH Radio introduced its two new radio stations: 96.3好FM (96.3 Hao FM) and Money FM 89.3 on Friday.

SPH Radio was awarded the tender to operate two new radio stations by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in March 2017. Since then, the teams at SPH Radio have been working hard in preparation for the launch of the two new stations in January 2018.

To be launched on January 8, 2018, 96.3 Hao FM will take listeners a trip down memory lane with familiar mandarin pop tunes from the 80s and 90s. With a tagline of “Great Songs, Hao FM”, listeners can expect to hear classic hits from Wan Fang, Winnie Hsin, Wakin Chau, Faye Wong, Jacky Cheung and local xinyao music too.

The station will work closely with the newsrooms to get hold of the most updated news and information to share with listeners. 96.3 Hao FM aims to be an all-in infotainment station where listeners can tune in to hear classic hits and gain insights on topics such as lifestyle, healthcare and finance/wealth planning.

Carine Ang, Senior Programme Director of 96.3 Hao FM, said: “After many months of hard work, we are finally closer to launching a brand new Chinese radio station in Singapore.”

The current 96.3 Hao FM lineup includes familiar radio personalities such as Jackie Liu, Tan Li Yi, Hong Wei Wen, and Wen Guo Xian. Joining them is veteran radio personality Anna Lim.

Anna said: “It is going to be exciting to see how our new station will develop in this new digital age.”

Money FM 89.3, Singapore's first and only business and personal finance radio station in English, is expected to launch on January 29, 2018.

The talk-format station will focus on business and money-related topics, as well as general news and discussion of wider social topics such as health, education, music and more. With the tagline 'Stay Ahead', the station aims to provide relevant and on-the-go information to help its audience to always be on top of the happenings in Singapore and around the world.

The station will have access to SPH's wide ranging content including business news and information from The Straits Times and The Business Times. It will also work with SPH's subsidiary ShareInvestor Pte Ltd, which has one of the largest investor relations networks in Asia.

The radio station aims to reach the general listener who takes an interest in everyday personal finance matters like retirement planning, sensible investing and responsible saving, and to add value to both the savvy and novice investors.

Loretta Lopez, Assistant Programme Director of Money FM 89.3, said: “The team is working hard on their shows with the approach that every minute on-air matters. Expect industry veterans such as Claressa Monteiro, Yasmin Jonkers and Elliott Danker to name a few, on the airwaves very soon.”

Sim Hong Huat, General Manager of SPH Radio, said: “These are exciting times for SPH Radio as we gear up to the launches of our two new stations next year. With strong editorial support and great production teams, we are committed to offering the best to our listeners.”
