TeamRock partners BFM Malaysia in search for global audience

UK-based rock and metal content company TeamRock has joined hands with Malaysian business station BFM to reach new audience.

TeamRock Radio, which was launched in June 2013 on DAB at the unconventional time of 11.58pm, with the iconic Iron Maiden song; ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’, has since grown into a data-driven, content creation and distribution company for rock fans worldwide.

Its goal is to work with local partners worldwide to focus on rock consumers across print, digital, web, radio, video and events.

The core founders, Chairman John Myers and CEO Billy Anderson formerly ran Guardian Media Group Radio division – GMG Radio, and their first move was to purchase the legendary rock music print publications: Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, The Blues Magazine, AOR, and Prog Magazines to launch a company that would go global on multiple digital platforms.

In 2014, TeamRock.com launched websites and digital streaming of audio channels in the UK and worldwide followed by a direct to consumer use of ‘freemium’, and premium subscription models called TeamRock+.

In 2015 the company added content supplied to and through radio syndication and mobile apps.

BFM in Malaysia is its first radio partner in Southeast Asia.

Every Sunday, BFM airs The Classic Rock Magazine Show with Nicky Horne, a legendary DJ with deep personal ties to the bands and artists playing Classic Rock.

According to TeamRock, BFM’s working-professional, educated audience fits well with rock consumers worldwide and uniquely the station combines focus on business and current events with other programming including music enjoyed by the same demographic.
