Vale Jamie Meldrum

SPH Radio Program Director Jamie Meldrum has passed away suddenly in Singapore.

50 year old Jamie was admitted to hospital for a lung infection Thursday evening and passed away on Friday.

Jamie Meldrum, an Australian, was the Senior Program Director for SPH Radio stations Kiss 92 and ONE FM 91.3. He joined the SPH Radio team in 2006 and was pivotal in the development and launch of Kiss 92.

In his time with SPH Radio, he oversaw and directed the content and programming strategy of Kiss 92 and ONE FM 91.3. He worked closely with the talents in guiding their development and raised the professional standard of the Radio industry in Singapore. Jamie was also one of the region’s regular voices in animation, commercials, and promos in Radio and TV.

Prior to his arrival in Singapore in 1998, he held several radio jobs in Australia.

He graduated from the Australian Institute of Radio & Television (AIR-TV) 1986 and started his radio career in Sydney at the age of 20 to work in promotions at Radio 2UW – now KIIS1065.

He was picked up by Sea FM Gold Coast to be part of the night time duo “The Budskis”, where they received the award for Best Newcomers in 1992, and obtained both local & national media coverage. Jamie then spent the next 6 years at Triple M FM in Brisbane, during which he also co-hosted a Motoring Show on local television, before taking a break from Radio and moving on to Cable TV.

Jamie later joined Disney Channel Australia as their main image voice based in Singapore where he also was the main image voice for Disney Channels in Asia and the Middle East, both in North American Accent.

Jamie Ross Meldrum leaves behind his wife, Sarocha Meldrum, beloved children Kat (Rattikan) Meldrum, Peter (Kamalas) Meldrum and Christopher Meldrum. Much loved son of Ross and Christine Meldrum, and brother of Melissa Henderson and Melinda Reid.

This tribute was prepared by his colleagues at SPH Radio.

Our thoughts are with Ross, who has also worked in radio, all of Jamie's family, and all the team at SPH Radio who have been shocked by his sudden passing from natural causes.

He will be dearly missed.
