Public, private and community radio stations in Bangaldesh are preparing to celebrate World Radio Day (WRD) on February 13 under the leadership of WRD Observation National Committee.

WRD is held to celebrate radio and its unique power to touch lives and bring people together.

Its theme for this is ‘Radio in Times of Emergency and Disaster’.

The WRD Committee was formed to observe the day locally and nationally by the country’s Ministry of Information.

It will arrange a colourful rally, seminar, cultural program and antique radio set exhibition at a national level to mark the day. 

Representative from media, civil society members, administration and delegates from different level of the society will be invited to the event. 

12 regional stations of the public broadcaster Bangladesh Betar, 14 private FM stations and 16 community stations in and outside Dhaka have decided to organize colourful rally and seminar on the occasion.
