Comings and Goings

At last week's anual CBAA conference, the following people were elected to the board:

  • Phillip Randall was re-elected unopposed as Vice President
  • Natalie Pozdeev was re-elected for a second term
  • Jean Rau was re-elected for a second term
  • Tony Smythe joins as a new Director
  • Tess Lawley was nominated as the new Youth Representative for the next two years

Jonathon Brown, who did not stand for re-election, has retired from the Board.

The AGM included elections for nominees to the CBF's General Grants Advisory Committee.

As a result of nominations at the AGM, the CBAA will recommend that Michelle Brown, Declan Kelly, Rebecca Petraitis and Bob Rau (pictured) who was re-elected, be a part of this year's GGAC.

At a function earlier this week, Triple M Sydney Content Director Jamie Angel celebrated his 25th year at Southern Cross Austereo. The last five at Triple M. On Facebook, Geoff Field posted; “This afternoon I was honoured to attend a function marking 25 year in radio for Jamie Angel. Long time listeners to 2DayFM will remember him fondly, and I worked as his newsreader in the drive shift from 2001 to 2003 - he is now content director at our sister station Triple M downstairs. It's a pleasure knowing you Jamie Angel, and here's to another 25 years”.

His daughter Casey also had words of praise; "A BIG congratulations to my daddy, who has now been at Austereo for 25 years! Very proud! Love you always"

After 17 years with 4BC as host of Sports Today, Peter Psaltis, is joining RadioTAB as the station extends its weekday sports breakfast show to include weekends.  RadioTAB is broadcast on close to 100 transmitters across Tasmania, Northern Territory, Queensland and South Australia.

Another major rumour has been confirmed as true with ARN's announcement this morning that the new Breakfast show for the KIIS rebrand in Melbourne from January 2015 is Matt Tilley and Jane Hall. Jane Hall's beakfast co-host since 2012 on Mix 101.1, Chrissie Swan will be leaving the network.

Following Simon Greally's departure, Nic McClure will take over as Executive Producer on the  Kyle & Jackie O show. In 18 years, Nic has worked with Merrick & Rosso, Richard Wilkins, Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell, Marty Sheargold, Ugly Phil, Kyle & Jackie O, Tony, Bec & Mikey, Libby Gorr, Cameron Daddo and Jason Donovan. She was most recently EP for Rosso's Drive show on Sydney's KIIS 1065 and Melbourne's Mix 101.1.

Byron Cooke and Kristie Mercer are returning to Breakfast on Central Coast’s 101.3 Sea FM for 2015. Byron Cooke comes from within the SCA Network; currently on-air with Sea FM’s Weekend Breakfast and at Fox FM, as a Workday Announcer. Kristie Mercer’s career began in Townsville, hosting a solo Drive show. Since then, she's worked on Breakfast shows in Gippsland and Albury.

2UE’s Sydney Agency Sales Manager Stacey Skaro, has resigned from the Fairfax Radio Network.  She is leaving the business to take some well deserved time out to map out the next phase of her career whether that be in Sydney or interstate.  Stacey started with 2UE and the Fairfax Radio Network just over 12 months ago and has had a significant impact on the business in that time.  Her last day will be Friday December 5th.  A search for a replacement is underway

Karen Halligan has been appointed to the newly created role of National Commercial and Operations Director at Southern Cross Austereo. With over 20 years’ experience in media and marketingKaren was most recently Head of Implementation and Investment for Bohemia and prior to this was General Manger, Slingshot Media, and has worked at Medicom, Universal McCann and Coca- Cola.

Veteran broadcaster and producer Peter Barr will step away from the microphone this December after ten years in the Breakfast seat at Perth’s RTRFM. He’s a 3 time Golden WAMi Award, with several WAM nominations for one win.

After 15 years with 2UE’s Sports Today with co-host John ‘Gibbsy’ GibbsGreg ‘Brandy’ Alexander will finish as a full time presenter on December 12 to focus more on his television commitments. However, he will continue as a regular guest into the future.

Merrick Watts is returning to the Triple M Network to head up a new drive show in 2015. A co-host is expected be announced in due course. "Triple M. Dudes will dig it," says CD Mike Fitzpatrick. Smart money's on Paul Murray.

After four years as News Director at Radio 4BC, Award Winning journalist Scott Mayman is leaving Fairfax Media. Scott has led the career development of more than 19 university students who’ve since gained placement in full-time employment. He is still working with American network CBS as their Australian correspondent and in 2015.

Kevin Trask began presenting nostalgic segments with Tony Murphy on 4BC on the 10th of November 2004 and then worked with Ian Maurice for five years before Walter Williams took over hosting the night-time programme in 2010. Nights with Walter Williams networks to 4CA Cairns, 4RO Rockhampton, 4MK McKay and Kevin can be heard every Monday night at 10.30pm. He also has worked with Bruce Mansfield and Philip Brady on 3AW on Remember When Sunday nights at 8.20pm for the past fourteen years. Kevin is currently planning the 2015 Australian tour for his famous cousin Diana Trask.

ABC Rural has announced that Caroline Winter will present SA Country Hour, Australia’s longest running radio program. Born in Glasgow and raised in Perth Caroline’s career has come full circle, starting out as a program presenter with ABC Local Radio in regional WA 12 years ago.
